The Capacity Lab recently launched a new partnership with the New York Council of Nonprofits to provide free expert technical assistance to nonprofit organizations in Chautauqua County. Several organizations have benefited from this new resource.

Our new Project Lead will serve all of Chautauqua County, coordinating and implementing The Capacity Lab’s Work Plan that includes specific objectives and key results.

Nearing our five-year mark, we’ve engaged in a formal evaluation process to better understand how we can continue to meet the evolving needs of Chautauqua County’s nonprofit sector.

We are committed to keeping nonprofit leaders informed and connected by sharing timely updates, advocacy opportunities, and practical resources.

Collaboration is a powerful tool for nonprofit success, and a new partnership between Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care and Audubon Community Nature Center is a testament to that. 

We’re excited to announce the return of our Monthly Networking and Peer Learning Lunches—a space for nonprofit professionals to connect, share insights, and learn from one another.

The Capacity Lab is excited to share is that we have again partnered with Ally Co, a local consultancy organization, to launch two local leadership cohorts to develop, connect and grow the nonprofit leadership pipeline in our community. 

The Capacity Lab announces the departure of Project Director Noah Goodling. During his tenure as the inaugural Project Director, Noah played a key role in launching The Capacity Lab’s program offerings and has helped to strategically connect nonprofits with one another and local, regional and statewide resources.

Applications for the 6-month 2025 RISE Leadership cohort are open through November 8! The RISE Program is designed for early career professionals looking for impactful leadership development opportunities to propel their careers.

In 2022, our regional partners with the Nonprofit Support Group helped to launch INP programming in the Western NY area with the Core Certificate Program for established nonprofit executives and the RISE Program for early career leaders.

The Capacity Lab is looking to grow partnerships that will enhance our capacity-building efforts, expand our outreach, and strengthen our support network for nonprofits organizations and professionals in Chautauqua County.

We conducted outreach and data collection for this salary survey in 2022, with the goal of providing relevant and up-to-date information on the compensation of key leadership and staffing positions within the local nonprofit sector.

These definitions of capacity and capacity-building help to guide and structure the work of The Capacity Lab, but ultimately our focus comes from the nonprofits themselves.

One of the fundamental goals of The Capacity Lab is to find ways to identify, elevate, and retain talented leaders of all levels in the local nonprofit sector.
